Some may think that the coming weekend represents a calm before next weekend’s storm—what with the Belmont Stakes and our $75,000 Guaranteed tournament slated for June 10. But there is plenty of action to be had this Friday, Saturday and Sunday—including your first shots at some old favorites.
Oaklawn Park track announcer Vic Stauffer is one of the most recognizable race callers in the business. For the last several years, though, Stauffer has proven his mettle at “calling” races before they are run. Those skills were on full display Saturday (and Sunday too) at HorseTourneys and HorsePlayers.
Until further notice, races from racetracks of The Stronach Group will be featured only in tournaments related to industry sponsored, on-track/on-site events (in other words, in feeders and qualifiers to brick and mortar tournaments). Races from those tracks will not be featured in cash-only tournaments.
Be assured that HorseTourneys management has been involved in ongoing dialogue with management of The Stronach Group regarding a long-term solution to restoring the full tournament menu for those racetracks. We hope to have positive news to report shortly.
Please note that this will not affect HorsePlayers.com and in particular, all NHC and BCBC qualifiers will continue to run as usual with all racetrack content available.

Memorial Day weekend comes right on the heels of Preakness weekend this year, and we’re ready to help tournament players celebrate and enjoy with four days’ worth of tourneys to keep you engaged in between the barbecues.
Horseplayer Florine Sima walked home with $67,240 on Sunday at Santa Anita, the result of winning the track’s two-day Santa Anita Preakness Challenge. A resident of Burbank, Calif.,Sima, who was accompanied by his wife Maria over the weekend in Santa Anita’s Eddie Logan Suite, ended up with a bankroll of $27,240, which earned him top prize money of $40,000.
It’s always a letdown when the cold reality sets in that there will be no Triple Crown winner. But even though no HorseTourneys player managed to win three tournaments this weekend, we’re still very proud of those who managed to win two.
It remains to be seen how Always Dreaming fares off a two-week-turnaround, but we here at HorseTourneys and HorsePlayers are certainly ready for Preakness weekend.

There are comings and goings seemingly every week here at HorseTourneys as the calendar marches forward. This week is no exception, and on Sunday we are proud to offer the first qualifier for the 2017 Arlington Handicapping Challenge.
It’s definitely a kick in the teeth when you look forward to a racing weekend for months, and then do dreadfully with your wagers. That was the case for me last weekend. And I suppose it doesn’t help matters when the Clemson football coach and other celebrities—one after the other—all go on TV and pick the Derby winner because they liked his name.
