I’m hard pressed to think of another weekend that contains two holidays. That’s the case this weekend with Valentine’s Day on Friday and Presidents Day on Monday. We’ll have featured-tourney action all four days, and should you win any of the games, your heart will undoubtedly skip a beat as the band strikes up “Hail to the Chief”.
As mandatory-race meetings go, today’s meeting to discuss Saturday’s compulsory contests was pretty uneventful.

With NHC week now upon us, it’s no shock that eight final online spots and 24 Last Chance Tournament berths were awarded this past weekend. It was all part of a weekend that saw some excellent individual performances and (especially on Sunday) some fantastic finishes. The weekend winning got off to a quick start on Friday when a classic winner earned a spot at the place of his greatest triumph.
Confetti will be raining down not just on the Super Bowl winner, but on 22 of you this weekend as well…because that’s how many featured events we have going on here this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Just like the Chiefs and 49ers, it’s an even matchup on paper between Friday/Saturday (11 features) and Sunday (also 11 features). If the Super Bowl comes down to a late field goal attempt, you’ll see a lot of praying going on. You can kind of think of these moments as Kick & Prays. Such prayers are sometimes answered (Vinatieri), sometimes not (Norwood). So it is with Pick & Prays as well, and we certainly have a lot of those going on this weekend. Let’s start with Friday.

When it’s a “live-format” weekend like last weekend was, the day most likely to provide notable individual performances is Friday…which is always reserved for Pick & Prays so some of you can keep your mind on your work. We’ll have lots of HorseTourneys stars live onsite this weekend between the Pegasus World Cup Betting Championship on Saturday, a Monmouth NHC qualifier on the same day and the big Sam Houston contest on Sunday.
