History has repeated itself in the $8 Pick 6 Jackpot tourney…and not in a way we appreciate.
For the second straight week, the Jackpot seemed destined to fall—only to have the Racing Gods intervene and turn an imminent-seeming victory into a narrow, painful defeat. Two weekends ago, it happened to James Snyder, and this past Saturday, John Esterbrook was the victim.
It seldom takes much prodding to get excited for Breeders’ Cup weekend (Nov. 6-7), and this year it’s one of the few big events that’s actually taking place during its customary spot on the calendar! In case you could still use some extra reasons to get enthused, though, be aware of three big cash tourneys will be hosting to help make a big weekend even bigger.

We have $80,000 in Guaranteed cash headed out the door across three featured cash tourneys on Preakness day. If you like stakes races, Saturday just might be your day as all 14-contest races that day will be of the added-money variety. Pimlico and the Preakness serve as the centerpiece of an exciting weekend with 21 featured competitions with plenty of NHC, BCBC, Flo-Cal Faceoff and Keeneland entries up for grabs as well. The fun begins on Friday.
From October 1 through October 31, HorseTourneys.com will be the exclusive home of all NTRA National Horseplayers Championship (NHC) qualifying events. NHC Qualifiers this coming weekend will each award two (2) Guaranteed NHC Entry Packages.
The NHC is the most prestigious and lucrative handicapping competition in America. Each year, top players of all backgrounds travel to the NHC Finals in Las Vegas to compete for the title of Horseplayer of the Year, an Eclipse Award and a share of millions in prize money and rewards. These top players earn their way in to the Finals by competing in official qualifying tournaments.
In the month of October, these qualifiers will run exclusively at HorseTourneys.com. Feeders for NHC qualifying events will also take place daily at HorseTourneys, though a direct buy-in to qualifiers is also an option.

Scott Fiedler can certainly afford to buy his way into the $150,000 Guaranteed Flo-Cal Faceoff—but now he won’t have to.
It’s hard to keep up with the sporting calendar this year (as evidenced by the fact that the Preakness is a week from Saturday). Among all the other “how-can-this-be’s?” is the fact that we’re also already up to the final free NHC qualifier for the 2020 season. It takes place on Saturday, and it’s one of 21 marquee games this weekend.
As the two-day The BIG One was about to begin, Ted Apple smiled at his wife Cheryl and retreated to his upstairs “man cave” that he calls “The Paddock.” Cheryl knew that meant he had a contest to play, but Ted didn’t share any further details with her. “I didn’t want to say anything about the money involved, knowing how many really excellent horseplayers there were in it,” he said. “I was just hoping to finish in the Top 10.”
