They say money goes to money. They also say when you’re hot, you’re hot. Whoever “they” is, they’re right because both of those things apply to Scott Fiedler.
The contest world and the racing media, alike, are still buzzing over the $644,000 Spa & Surf Showdown that saw Scott Fiedler win $248,000. It’s time to turn the page, though, because another weekend of featured-tourney action is already upon us.
It was the largest purse in the history of online horse racing handicapping contests, and it came around at a good time for Scott Fiedler of Babylon, N.Y.
It’s finally upon us—the 2020 Spa & Surf Showdown. At press time, the purse had reached $369,930—and with five qualifiers on Thursday, a bunch more on Friday and $2,000 buy-ins still open, a total pot of $400,000 certainly seems within reach.
Christy Moore had two important tasks last Saturday — play the Xpressbet Travers Online Challenge with the entry that she won here at HorseTourneys in a $175 qualifier…and do that while keeping an eye on her 9- and 11-year-old sons.
Travers Weekend is upon us, and we’re blowing it out with 34 featured events, including a slew of Spa & Surf Challenge qualifiers (Purse now up to $286,000!) and a brand new play-in to August 22 Del Mar Pacific Classic Betting Challenge. Of most note, however, are our Travers Day cash games. We have a $60,000 Guaranteed Live-format game and a $20,000 Guaranteed Pick & Pray. That’s in addition to the Big Bucks, Pick 6 Jackpot and all the other customary Saturday games and qualifiers.
With a pot that has already swelled to $244,260, the August 15-16 Spa & Surf Showdown will be a prime focus as we enter the next-to-last weekend of qualifying for the all-cash, online event. In addition to daily, multi-track qualifiers for the Showdown, we’ll also be offering single-track, direct qualifiers on the racing programs at Saratoga (where it’s Whitney weekend) and Del Mar all weekend long.
Starting today, single-track direct qualifiers for the August 15-16 Spa & Surf Showdown will be offered each racing day at Saratoga and Del Mar.
