One of the biggest days on the mid-summer racing schedule comes up on Saturday as the Whitney Stakes and West Virginia Derby cards provide a veritable smorgasbord of stakes. Our Saturday featured schedule, therefore, offers nothing but stakes races on the 12-race syllabus. Solve these races and you could win big money in our special $40,000 Guaranteed Pick & Pray (with no limit as to how high the purse can grow) or a $3,500 package to the Spa in our Last Chance Saratoga qualifier.
It’s always exciting when a tourney’s result comes down to the last race. It’s also interesting anytime we offer a brand new event. On Sunday, we got the best of both worlds with our $20 Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge direct qualifier at HorsePlayers.
If your goal—or your best-case-scenario—is to qualify for the NHC or Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge…but to do so on a budget, then this is a great week for you to be playing at HorseTourneys/HorsePlayers.
While many HorseTourneys regulars enjoy both live-format and Pick & Pray games, some prefer one format or the other. This past weekend, it was the Pick & Pray format’s turn to preside over most of the featured action. On Friday, one of the most ardent supporters of Pick & Prays reminded us yet again of his prowess in these competitions.
If you’re pumped for opening weekend at Saratoga and Del Mar, HorseTourneys gives you a reason to be even more excited—a $40,000 Guaranteed tourney on Saturday that has no limit as to how high the purse could grow. It’s just one of 16 featured tourneys this weekend to go along with some special Saratoga-only contests on their Friday opening day.
If you’re like most handicappers, you have at some point heard what an “expert commentator” said on TV, shook your head, and said to yourself, “I know more than that guy.”
A weekend made up of predominantly live-format games set the stage for several fantastic finishes (sponsored by Alcoa) and the first of those came in our very first featured tourney of the weekend.
One of the popular brick-and-mortar contests of any calendar year is the Monmouth Super Qualifier, held this year on Saturday, August 25 (Travers Day). The event offers a total of two Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge entries and seven NHC spots to the top nine finishers—plus cash bonuses. Our very first qualifier to this Monmouth staple will be offered this Sunday.

With a primary focus on exotics wagers, Nick Fazzolari of Colts Neck, New Jersey, capitalized on his strategy in a maiden race at Monmouth Park, successfully completing a Daily Double to catapult himself to the top of the leaderboard in Saturday’s Stars & Stripes Handicapping Challenge at Belmont Park.
Exacta tourney players have come to know and respect the name Jorge Cruz-Aedo. He has won several such events—occasionally on back-to-back weekends—but his luck was never quite the same in our more traditional win-place tourneys. That all changed this Saturday.
